Vote Today

With all of the politics going around, we should -- at the very least -- vote who our robot overlords should be.  So, go vote for your favorites in the Robot Hall of Fame.  The robocalypse is bound to begin at one of their induction ceremonies.

Dwayne's Wednesday Robot Romper Room

"The Cooker" (aka the robot cooker character):  The Cooker is the robot found on the moon in the 1989 Wallace and Gromit adventure A Grand Day Out. It is not bad enough to look like an oven but to have two trespassers come along and start vandalizing and littering up his home -- the moon -- is too much. Finally, the poor robot comes to realize that he could live out his dream of skiing if only he can hitch a ride back to Earth with the interlopers. Unfortunately, Wallace and Gromit escape from the moon with a rocket full of moon-cheese and leaving behind the Cooker and some scrap metal. Making lemonade out life's lemons the robot fashions his skis out from the debris left behind from the rocket.

Dwayne's Wednesday Robot Romper Room

Eastern Bloc Robot Cowboy: Eastern Bloc Robot Cowboy appeared in season three of the cartoon The Tick in 1996. Probably one of the more unusual robots being that this Soviet machination is part vending machine and part cowboy. He speaks with a western drawl and has some Cyrillic-esque writing on him. The Tick is able to defeat Eastern Bloc Robot Cowboy by inserting a quarter into him and buying his brain.

The Electric Grandmother: In 1982 movie of the same name (written by Ray Bradbury), some kids lose their mother.  So, what does a good father do?  He goes and buys them a robot grandmother.  What choice did he have? Two of the kids are easily won over, but the third it takes some doing.  When grandma is hit by a truck and no damage is done to her, the friendship is sealed.  Another story free of killer robots.

Huey, Dewey, and Louie (AKA Drone 2, Drone 1, and Drone 3 respectively): In the movie Silent Runnings, all the plant life on earth has been destroyed.  The plants only exist on these domed spaceships which circle the sun just outside of Saturn's orbit.  The goal is to replant the Earth when it is viable. These three robots aid in the maintenance of these domes.  A single robot (Dewey) survives to the end of the movie, but the crew members and the other two robots are not destroyed by a robot rampage for a change.

Willard: In 1989 movie R.O.T.O.R., Willard was a robotic lab assistant. Make a goofy looking robot and put a police officer's hat on his head and voila! Instant comic relief. I have to say the best actor in the entire movie.
