Dwayne's Wednesday Robot Romper Room
R.O.T.O.R.
(aka Robotic Officer of the Tactical Operations Research): It’s a robot! It's a
cop! No it's not RoboCop, it's just R.O.T.O.R. who can be found in the 1989
film of the same name. In the movie,
R.O.T.O.R. was created by Police Captain J.B. Coldyron who is part cop, part
research scientist, and part cowboy/rancher because having one job is too
boring. In his robotic project, Captain Coldyron was inspired by the work done
by Dr. Steele (gotta love those names) who is part scientist and probably part
skunk and all muscle. (She has a mullet with a white stripe down the middle.) Unfortunately, the creators' vision of the
future was largely inspired by Judge Dredd; therefore, R.O.T.O.R. has been
programmed to act as judge, jury, and executioner. This was not smart seeing as
how he is activated 25 years before completion and even a minor traffic
incident will get you a death sentence. I also think that Coldyron needs to
program the finer parts of the law into R.O.T.O.R. because the good captain
states that his robotic peace officer will execute anyone committing a felony.
If memory serves me right -- speeding is a misdemeanor in Texas where this
movie takes place.
